Chrysalis announces expansion to Orange County

May 10, 2018 No Comments by

Alliance member Chrysalis in Los Angeles has announced its plans to open in Orange County! The new office will be their fourth location in Southern California – the first outside Los Angeles County – and responds to Orange County’s sharply growing homeless population, nearly 4,800 people according to the most recent homeless census.

Chrysalis creates pathways to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals through training, job search resources and crucial supportive services, and provides transitional employment through three enterprises – staffing, street maintenance and highway maintenance. In the past two years alone, the number of workers employed by these businesses rose nearly 60%, from 724 in 2016 to 1,139 in 2017! That pace shows no sign of slowing in the current year.

Altogether in 2017, Chrysalis assisted nearly 3,000 job seekers to secure employment, with 70% retaining employment six months after landing an external job. The organization’s goal is to double job outcomes by 2021 and the expansion to Orange County will contribute to fulfilling this plan. Chrysalis is now working with the City of Anaheim to identify a location, with the goal of opening Chrysalis Orange County in fall 2018.
