The Alliance welcomes new member MaineWorks, a Certified B Corp based in Falmouth, Maine. The company has operated for three years and provides work opportunities in industrial construction and transportation infrastructure for non-violent felons, veterans, new Americans, people in recovery from substance abuse and others facing barriers to employment. Through its WorkWellprogram, MaineWorks connects employees to practical life assistance from community-based service providers on a referral basis.

Founder Margo Walsh was inspired to start the business after hearing attorney F. Lee Bailey speak about Maine’s high level of incarceration related to opiate addiction, and the employment and recovery challenges these offenders face after their release. Later this year, the company plans to expand with the launch of New Hampshire Works.
