Congratulations to Alliance member TeenForce, recognized by the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber with its inaugural “Non-profit of the Year” award!

“We embraced the TeenForce story the first time we heard it in 2012,” said Matt Mahood, CEO of the SJSV Chamber. “They simultaneously provide a hiring service to our Chamber members and support the growth of the most disadvantaged youth in our community, including foster care youth. This is a win-win model, and we are proud that our Board of Directors is recognizing TeenForce with this award. We look forward to expanding our support of Opportunity Youth in 2015 and beyond.”

TeenForce has worked closely with the Chamber, initially to coordinate a “100 jobs for foster youth” initiative. To date, Chamber members have met their staffing needs by hiring over 150 current and former foster youth in a variety of positions in the health care, pest control, retail, administrative, beverage distribution, legal and financial services industries. TeenForce founder John Hogan notes, “We are very honored by this recognition from the business community, which validates our social enterprise model as an effective combination of ‘business’ and ‘social’ services.”
