Staffing Industry Analysts optimistic about 2017 market growth

Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA) is projecting the US staffing market will grow 4% in 2017 to reach a record $145 billion in revenue. The temp penetration rate (the share of employment made up by the temporary staffing industry) is also at a record high of 2.05%.

For the commercial segment of temporary staffing (industrial and office/clerical jobs), SIA forecasts 2% revenue growth  in 2017 compared to 1% in 2016, and attributes industrial staffing leaders’ optimism for the coming year to “a more ‘pro-business’ federal government administration that [will] facilitate stronger GDP growth in 2017.”

Longer-term, SIA notes that staffing service buyers expect 29% of their workforce to be contingent within the next decade, compared to 22% in 2016 and 12% in 2009.
